Place: Columbus Museum of Art
480 East Broad Street, Columbus

The Dartmouth and Yale Clubs of Central Ohio invite alumni and their guests to a private curator’s introduction and champagne breakfast, followed by a docent-led tour of the upcoming Beyond Impressionism exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art. This event takes place on opening weekend, and before the museum becomes accessible to the general public.

In partnership with The Guggenheim Museum in Spain, the Columbus Museum of Art presents Beyond Impressionism – Paris, Fin de Siècle: Signac, Redon, Toulouse-Lautrec and Their Contemporaires. The Columbus Museum of Art is the only U.S. venue for this extraordinary exhibition.

Featuring approximately 100 paintings, drawings, prints, and works on paper, the exhibition explores the Parisian art scene, focusing on the most important French avant-garde artists of the late 19th century, including Paul Signac, Maximilien Luce, Maurice Denis, Pierre Bonnard, Félix Vallotton, Odilon Redon, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and more.

Dartmouth Club members and guests will start morning with champagne continental breakfast, followed by a behind-the-scenes lecture given by the exhibit’s curator, Ann Dumas of the Royal Academy of Arts in London, and Nannette Maclejunes, Executive Director of the Columbus Museum of Art. Engineering The Perfect Glass For Wine: A Riedel Wine Glass Workshop

Date: Friday, November 3rd
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Place: Wine Trends
3801 Parkwest Drive, Columbus
Cost: $75 for Member, $90 for Non-Member (Includes instruction, wine, light hors d’oeuvres, and complementary set of Veritas stemware.)

Calling all Dartmouth engineers, entrepreneurs, and lovers of design for a wine tasting like no other.

It’s a constant back and forth of form vs function (or one might say design vs engineering). One thing is for sure — to make a successful product in today’s market, one must have these two things in good balance.

Come participate in the Dartmouth Club’s own Riedel Wine Glass Workshop, and experience first-hand the extraordinary way that the shape of glass affects the flavor and perception of wine. The Dartmouth Club of Central Ohio and Austrian crystal manufacturer, Riedel — recognized worldwide for designing/engineering finely tuned drinking instruments for every level of wine sophistication — now make it possible to experience wine in a truly unique way, and from one of the world’s most entrepreneurial families.

Riedel will conduct this fascinating, hour-long seminar that includes an opportunity to savor four different varietals — Old World Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Riesling — all in their matching Riedel stemware. This educational wine glass workshop will demonstrate the relationship between the shape of the glass wine and the perception and enjoyment of wine.

"The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make."
Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate

Enjoy this extraordinary tasting of superb wines and receive a complimentary set of four Veritas Tasting Wine Glasses made for restaurateurs and hoteliers (valued at $138) to take home with you, complements of Riedel USA and the Dartmouth Club of Central Ohio.

Gene Smith: Managing the Buckeyes Athletic Department

Date: Tuesday, February 27th

Place: The OSU Fawcett Center, Alumni Room
2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus
Cost: $30 for Member, $50 for Non-Member (Includes presentation, breakfast, and beverages.)

Gene Smith is in his 14th year as Director of Athletics at The Ohio State University. He is widely recognized and lauded among the leaders of his profession, and Smith has been named "one of the most powerful people in collegiate sport".

Smith oversees the nation's most comprehensive, and one of the most successful collegiate athletic programs in the world. By way of example, a recent Wall Street Journal article ranked OSU football as the most valuable college football program in the country, coming in at just over $1.5 billion. This is up an impressive 59% over last year's #1 ranking.

But there's more to his success than just football. The athletics department manages 36 fully-funded varsity sports with more than 1,000 student-athletes. Under Smith's leadership graduation rates increased to 75% (from 65% in previous years), funding to other university programs has reached $39 million (fiscal 2015-16), and a Forbes article recognized the OSU athletics department as one of the 10 best organizations to work for in sports.

Schedule
7:30am   Registration & Breakfast
8:00am   Program
8:45am   Q&A
9:00am   Conclusion

Please join us for a very interesting breakfast discussion with Gene Smith to discuss big-time college athletics, Buckeye football, and his surprisingly simple secrets for success.
